What is Project Connect?
Physical activity and time spent in nature promote success at school and improve mental health and well-being. Project Connect aims to give students in classrooms the opportunity to learn about and experience the outdoors through professionally designed Outdoor Education programs. These programs will be custom tailored depending on the grade and season. The qualified and enthusiastic outdoor educators will be sure to have your students active, engaged and learning hands-on!
All programs will highlight interpersonal skills. The following topics/themes are examples of the interpersonal skills that our programs facilitate:
- Acceptance of others (anti-bullying)
- Teamwork
- Self Awareness
- Appreciation for the Environment
- Character Building
- Communication
- Leadership
Possible Fall/Spring activities
Orienteering (Map and Compass) - Hiking - Canoeing - Fire Building - Games and Initiatives - Tarps & Knots - Workshops
Winter activities
Snowshoeing - Cross-country skiing - Quinzees (snow shelters) - Games and Initiatives - Workshops
Our aim is to have Project Connect be 100% subsidized. We strongly believe real learning happens through experiences. Our customized hands-on outdoor education programs might just be the missing piece to the school curriculum.
